This two day course is an introduction to clinical gait analysis, exploring normal gait and gait impairments of adults with a neurological gait disorder. In addition the course will demonstrate the use and interpretation of three dimensional gait analysis data to identify impairments affecting the walking patterns and will focus on appropriate interventions to improve gait. In conjunction with the course, clinical workshops are being offered prior to the course. If you are interested in a practical demonstration of a gait analysis it is highly recommended you enrol in one of the Workshops. There will NOT be a practical demonstration during the course due to time limits and practical feasibility. The clinical workshop will include an overview of the clinical physiotherapy examination, an opportunity to assess and take measurements of an individual with a gait impairment due to a neurological disorder, placement of markers for the three dimensional gait assessment and three dimensional data capture. Please see below for further details. This course and the workshops are being conducted by the Clinical Gait Analysis Service, Monash Health. The Faculty is headed by Dr Anna Murphy and A/Prof Barry Rawicki with invited speakers including A/Prof Gavin Williams from Epworth Rehabilitation, A/Prof Jennifer McGinley from The University of Melbourne. Additional invited speakers are currently being confirmed. The group case presentations during the Course may include patients with a diagnosis of Cerebral Palsy, Hereditary Spastic Paraplegia, Stroke, Multiple Sclerosis, Traumatic/Acquired Brain Injury. Registration Course Registration Fee is $600 and includes course material, lunches and refreshments. Workshops In addition to the two day course, we are hosting two Clinical Workshops: 11 November from 8.30am-12.30pm 11 November from 1.00-5.00pm Gait Laboratory Workshop registration is $150/workshop and includes course materials and refreshments.
